Girls Inc. of Tarrant County Sets College-Bound Girls Up for Success with College Shower

Fort Worth, Texas (July 17, 2025) – Girls Inc. of Tarrant County (GITC) showered 28 college-bound teens Wednesday evening with tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of essential school supplies, dorm needs such as microwaves, bedding and other practical items meant to help these students thrive in their next academic chapter.

The annual College Shower event was held at The Woman’s Club of Fort Worth, where students and their families were honored with a seated dinner before the big unveiling. Generous community sponsors donated bundles of gifts to each GITC grad, including dorm and school supplies. Coca Cola Southwest Beverage surprised each grad with a brand new laptop. Other sponsors included Burns & McDonnell, Elevate, Federated Insurance, Frost, BNSF Railway, Texas Christian University, Frost and Cyrill & Kristen Kellerhals.

“The College Shower is a chance for us to celebrate their hard work and achievements, while providing the tools they need to excel in college and beyond,” said Jennifer Limas, President and CEO of Girls Inc. of Tarrant County. “We’re so grateful for the generous sponsors who make this event possible.”

The GITC participants were honored for their unwavering commitment to their educational success. Throughout their time with GITC, these young women participated in school-based comprehensive programs, summer camps, career workshops, Eureka! STEM programming, Saturday programs and college-focused activities.
