Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County Named Nonprofit Organization of the Year

at Annual D CEO Nonprofit & Corporate Citizenship Awards in Dallas

Organization leader Daphne Barlow Stigliano also honored as finalist for CEO of the Year

FORT WORTH, TEXAS (August 20, 2024) Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County (BGCGTC) was named Nonprofit Organization of the Year (Mega category) by D CEO Magazine at its 2024 Nonprofit & Corporate Citizenship Awards gala in Dallas. The awards honor North Texas nonprofit professionals and organizations that make a positive impact and recognize the efforts of corporations and business leaders who support and collaborate with local nonprofits. The award program is sponsored by D CEO and Communities Foundation of Texas.

As the oldest and largest Boys & Girls Club in Texas, BGCGTC serves more than 66,000 youth at 34 locations every day. Programs include afterschool and summer youth development, workforce readiness, pre-college support, culinary arts training, and gang intervention efforts.

D CEO recognized BGCGTC for expanding the breadth and scope of its services to better serve the needs of youth through three key initiatives. Those are Blue Door Kitchen, a state-of-the-art, $2 million commercial production kitchen that serves hot, nutritious and delicious meals and snacks to 3,500 Club members each day; Mobile Clubhouse Experience, a roaming RV equipped with food preparation capabilities and other equipment that make it possible to offer Club services to remote, outdoor locations; and its Music Clubhouse program that boasts three state-of-the-art recording studios, where students can compose and produce their own music and perform live for other Club members.

BGCGTC Board Chair Stephen Jones said the award is a wonderful recognition for an organization that is wholly focused on addressing the growing needs of youth, particularly in under-resourced communities.

“The leadership of this organization is forward thinking and fearless,” Jones said. “They are willing to try new things if it means the children they serve today will grow up to be healthy, confident and capable adults. The initiatives we have rolled out in the past two years alone are a testament to our ability to make big things happen for the youth in our care.”

BGCGTC’s Daphne Barlow Stigliano was also named a finalist for Nonprofit CEO of the Year. Stigliano began her career with the organization as a volunteer in 1998 and rose to CEO & President in 2006. She oversees a complex budget, a diverse and motivated staff, a strategic board, and a strong donor community. She is responsible for driving innovation, resource development, organizational development and board development.
