GOODWILL FORT WORTH TO RECEIVE GRANT FROM
TEXAS WORKFORCE COMMISSION SKILLS DEVELOPMENT FUND
WHO: Texas Workforce Commissioner Aaron Demerson; Goodwill Fort Worth President & CEO David Cox, Vice President of Workforce Development Romney Guy and Director of Education Programs Kristen Williams; as well as partner agency and staff members from Goodwill and Texas Workforce Solutions of Tarrant County and Texas Workforce Solutions of North Central Texas.
WHAT: Goodwill Fort Worth’s North Texas Institute for Career Development (NTI) in partnership with Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County and Workforce Solutions North Central Texas received a $115,074 grant from the Texas Workforce Commission Skills Development Fund Grant to train 55 workers through the Self Sufficiency Fund. Texas Workforce Commissioner Aaron Demerson delivered the check during a special presentation.
The Self Sufficiency Fund provides grants for short-term training for in-demand occupations in the medical and IT fields for qualifying recipients. Recipients will earn industry top certifications through NTI, preparing them for a stable job in a growing field.
The Self Sufficiency Fund program assists adult recipients of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, and individuals earning less than $37,000 annually with a dependent child (custodial or non-custodial) NCP.
